I need this 15 years ago ❤
Amazing ❤❤❤ thx Doug your the best
u are using the ZL version. It is a bit less oversampled and a bit worse. However, they are not close at all. The Acustica sounds like a different sound. There might be some similarities in the color, but that's all.I don't like the aqua plugin's sound. The Nebula Impulses sound much more 3D and transparent. However, the Volterra approach has always sounded thin in the low end since the days of Focusrite have been the case.I just like to use them very lightly as they have a gentle tone. The Algorithm emulation plugins sound shockingly bad. They make things so much worse sounding they are absolute snake oil.On good converters you can hear the differences
Hey Doug... hope you still remember me... wanted your mastering services again bro. do you have an email to communicate and send over files.

Good video. Thanks.
Hey, Doug. Thanks for your video. I've used the RME ADI2 Pro. Which sounds real good. But This Amari. I do like what I'm hearing from various reviews. Though there ain't many. But specifically how you explained the Sound quality detail. Good job, Man.
Do you have any vocal presets
@@davidromerovlogs5039 thanks for reaching out soon I will be looking into this
Okay so for me it's between this and the ferrofish pulse 16. I have an rme ucx II which only has one in and out adat so I can only use eight channels if I go with the ferrofish. I do like that it has a headphone jack on the ferrofish over the black lion but it's unclear whether it'll be usable. The black lion is just enough but it doesn't have a matrix I'd have to use total mix for routing...which one should I grab? 🤔
@@apextraxx2903 i really love the sound of the black lion. The ferrofish i have not heard. But the black lion has done great for me for the money its really good
@@DougJenkins 👌🏾 bet appreciate the response. Good timing too I just resumed my research on the two. One more question though, I don't know if you heard the Rme But it has really good clocking and low jitter, the black lion advertises that their clocking is really good too, Which do you think would be better for master clock?
I really can agree! This is a Powerhouse, coming from an 2013 Retina MacBook Pro. I wanted to go for a MacBook Pro with M2 Max, would have cost me 5000€. I wanted to pay it in 4 Years but then my Colleague came up with: "Hey, why don't you go for a refurbished M2 Mac Mini with 16GB RAM, this would be so much Cheaper. Just hang it to your 65" TV at the Living Room, as long you don't have a Studio. Get the MacBoook, if Times are better." I am a Musician and learn to produce Techno with Logic Pro X. This was such a good Choice. The M2 Mac Mini can handle 4K HDR 60Hz with ease. And the Screensaver from MacOS Sonoma just look stunning on the TV. It's like having a Apple TV, where I can actually work with AND the good thing is, if I wanna work in the Bedroom, because someone wants to see something else in the Living Room, I just can take the Mac Mini and hook it up to the Cables from the Apple TV. This is so Cool. I even can now take this Thing with my Bagpack and use it at my other Home as well, just changing the Cables from the Apple TV. If you need to save Money, go with this Solution.
@@jotceka77 absolutely thanks for sharing man it really is an incredible computer
I am so confused. I hate pro tools so much.
Wait, so the portico II is on the mid and you feed that to the mbp??? I’ve wondered if the mbp can accept MS I coded signals. But your SFE to comp is not engaged so I’m confused.
@@spunkadellic I know use the Ssl fusion to be able to split the portico mid side. It has an MS feature on it. I think during that video I was using software to do the same thing.
What chassis are you using to hold your Avid HD card?
No card thats a second machine running atmos. Off a rme digiface
Thats funny 2024 bros 2024
At the end you said it's August 2023... My guy... are you producin' so hard that the Recording Industry Association sent you a Flux Capacitor to refund you an entire year... Like a Tax Refund? ;-) LOL
Wooops. 🫣🫣🫣😂😂
@@DougJenkins All good, man! I'd LOVE to see more music production videos from you. I know that mixing is much more your arena. But I believe that probably makes you a very efficient & focused producer & editor... also very decisive regarding just how much production/editing you will allow before sending back to the producer. I'd love to catch your insights.
To add to the video. I was screen capturing and streaming wireless from a iphone and running a interface for video and had both pro tools and final cut open😂😂😂🎉🎉
Seems to me the Mac Mini M2 Base Model PLUS the extra $200 for the 16 GB of RAM is the ultimate sweet spot price/performance equation. I was thinking that 16 GB of RAM would be a bit too little for me BUT if it performs this well with just 8 GB of RAM then I think 16 will be enough. Is the reason you need less RAM with these models becuase the RAM is "Unified Memory" according to Apple?
I finally purchased the Revo.Exp. My issue is that when I insert more than one hardware insert, only one is audible. I'm using Pro Tools, if that helps. I was connected through BNC, but the Clarett has an output clock, and I'm not sure if that was helping. Then I got some noisy feedback, so I unplugged the clock and switched back and forth between Macro-MMC and ADAT. I'm also at 48kHz. Other than that, the quality is excellent. Any help would be grateful.
Let me see if i can get with black lion on that
@@DougJenkins I’m sorry I didn’t reply back after I figure it out. It wasn’t a black lion issue it was the way my Clarett communicated to Protools.
@@Ilikethatmusic_typebeats thanks for the update man. Glad you got it working💪
I did this but no audio/processed audio coming back in to my daw. Any ideas?
I would have to see the situation. What interface. Are they set as line in and out.

I have an RME and was going to use it to clock the black lion exp, but from listening to you I’m wondering if it’s better to clock from the black lion. Which way round do you think is best?
On my list since I realised 8 inputs is not enough!!! Might use mine backwards kinda like a very nice patch bay!!!

It’ll never be, people who say AI will take over Music are people who are not Music Engineers. Mastering is an Art. Each artist Masters according to their personality. AI Mastering is nothing but a Tool. It WIll NEVER take over, like CD’s are not better then Records, Streamed Music does not sound better then CD’s. Mistakes cause innovation, AI doesn’t know how to turn a mistake into an Innovation of Art! Go Figure.
I worked in a machine learning lab 20 years ago. The rate of progress since then has been exponential, and it will continue to be. I'm sorry to break it to you, but it will learn how to simulate the best of the best - people who put all of their heart and soul and personality into their music and masters. The day will come when it will be able to identify what human beings want from a master, including identifying what parts to highlight for emotional impact. A day will come when it will be more creative and innovative than any person alive today. The next 5-10 years are going to be really rocky for almost everyone. I'm not kidding when I say this - put together a bug out bag now and store up some food and supplies so you can survive for a month if needed. If you don't end up needing it, it means things turned out OK, but not just OK, far better than we could have expected, and you won't care about the money you invested in those supplies. If you find this hard to believe, sit and ponder what it would look like if an AI was taught how to improve itself nonstop, and not just one but hundreds, and then thousands, and then millions, and consider that they will be able to learn each other's improvements. Once this problem has been cracked, and they are getting very close, things are going to get very wild and very unpredictable. Again, take it from someone who has been closely following this for decades and has worked in the industry.

Cool stuff! How do I clock with a Midas M32 and a mcDSP-16? I’m running a Midas M32 via usb expansion card. I can remove it and get a Worclock expansion card, but that would remove my usb to my laptop. So I’m confused there..
Digital still has a way to go before being able to match the backend fullness and roundness of analog hardware, until then digital will remain flat with no back 😉
I just got my unit yesterday i had a question so im using this to connect to my apogee symphony desktop. Adat optical for somereason manul says i just need q cable but it doesnt work signal wont go through what is your advice
You should be able to run a toslink cable in and out of symphony desktop and run apogee as main interface
Seems like a great way to chase your tail! Adjust the mix based on what you hear in every scenario and you will surely end up with a mess. And the listener sure as hell ain’t listening in the environment you mixed in. If I’m wrong please explain to me me how and why.
